Enable the correct framework/curriculum:
To ensure you have the correct frameworks enabled, follow these steps:
More > Settings > Learning > Curriculums > toggle on the frameworks that you wish to use.
Add a child's starting point:
Click Children > Child > Learning Journey > Framework > select Blossom Pathways.
You will see a framework below with statements relevant to the area of learning selected in the dropdown menu.
The areas of learning are as follows:
CL: Communication and Language
UN: Understanding
SP: Speaking
PH: Physical
HIS: Health, Independence and Self-care
PSED: Personal, Social and Emotional Development
TH: Thinking
Record a child's progress:
Click each statement > select progress level > Save.
You can record a child's progress based on the following stages:
Starting Point: By marking a statement as a Starting Point on Blossom, this means the child has secured this statement.
i.e. Joe Smith is 9 months old and is sitting up independently on this first settling in session with mum. In my professional opinion, Joe has secured this statement. Therefore, I am confident to mark it off as a Starting Point.
Emerging: By selecting Emerging, you are recording that perhaps the child has carried out this statement in their settling in period, but they may not be secure.
i.e. Joe Smith is 9 months old and appears to be sitting up independently, but as it’s only the first settling in session with mum, I can not confidently say Joe is secure in my professional opinion.
📌Always refer back to your nursery processes to determine how you want staff to interpret these progress levels.
After your settling in period, you can create a Starting Point formative report. This will be the first report that appears in your Cohort Tracking.
Formative Reports > + Create > Term: Starting Point > input period of time you are assessing > Type of report: Formative report > Create Report.
📌Statements will not pull through to formative reports in accordance with updated guidance.
