On Blossom you can set up the option to message your parents directly. With the messenger, you can communicate important information with speed and efficiency.

To enable instant messaging on your platform please follow the below steps:

  • More > Settings > Parent app > Parent communication > Messaging > Edit > Switch toggle on

Instant messaging notifications and permissions

Next, you will need to select the staff members who you want to receive messages and notifications from the parents in designated rooms. By default, all managers will be selected already.

Send an instant message

  • Click the instant message icon in the top right corner > Click the compose icon > Type the child's name > Select the child > Type a message > Send.

Search for any child at the setting, and your message will be received by the contacts of that child who have parental responsibility and access to the parent app.

FAQs:

How can I add a new paragraph within the text?

Adding a new paragraph to your message will depend on what device you are working on.

  • Desktop/Laptop (using a keyboard): Press 'alt & enter' or 'shift & enter'.

  • Tablet: Press ‘return’ on the native keyboard.

  • Tablet (iPad): Press 'shift and return'.

🌟Top tip: If you press the Enter key or Send, this will send the message automatically.

How does the nursery know when a parent has sent a message to them?

In the top right corner, the messaging icon will signal the number of unread messages received by the nursery. This number is individual for each user and not for the nursery as a whole.

How do you reply to an instant message?

Click the instant message icon in the top right corner > Click the message you wish to reply too > Type a response > Send.

🌟Top tip: Only child contacts with parental responsibility and parent app access can receive messages and reply.

Why can’t I message a particular child?

There are several reasons why you may not be able to message a particular child:

  • There are no child contacts with parent app access and parental responsibility.

  • The child has been archived

  • The child's room has been archived

  • The messaging feature has been deactivated for the nursery.

What happens if we decide to deactivate the instant messaging feature?

To deactivate the messenger, follow these steps:

  • More > Settings > Parent app > Parent communication > Messaging > Edit > Switch toggle on

All previous messages will be saved. On the nursery platform, the messaging icon will no longer appear.

On the Parent App, the instant messaging icon will be visible. However, a message will appear within the messaging section to inform parents that the nursery has disabled this feature.
