Children Register Overview

The register is a fundamental part of the nursery day. The register page allows you to filter, download, view register totals for the current day, and even add extra sessions!

Access the Register

  • Blossomboard > Register

Once a child has a booking pattern, they will appear on the register with their session time under their name.

Register Filters

The register offers several filters to help customise your view:

Date: Select the current, previous or future dates.

Room: Filter by room, provided you have different rooms set up in your settings.

Session: Filter by a specific session, as long as your sessions are configured in the settings.

Register totals

The register displays the total for the day in the top right corner. This figure represents the overall total and accounts for children who are absent, on holiday or booked for extra sessions.

Downloaded Registers

Blossom understands that sometimes a paper version of the register is needed. You can easily download your registers by following these steps:

  • Blossomboard > Register > 3 dots: Download.

You can filter the downloaded register by room, session, and date range (one week at a time), and choose to display an additional sign-in and sign-out row.

If you download a register for a week in the past, the child's sign-in and sign-out times will be included.

Adding extra sessions on the register

A nursery manager, deputy & administrator have permission to add an extra session through the register.

  • Blossomboard > Register > + Add Extra Session > Select a child > Select the session > Save.

This will automatically be added to the child's next invoice.

Top tip: You can add extra sessions for multiple children at once by simply clicking ‘add another child’.

Signing Children in, out, absent, or on holiday

  • Sign in: Register > Click time in

  • Sign out: Register > Click time out

  • Absent: Register > Click absent > Select leave type (absent) > Add date > Add absence reason > Save.

  • Holiday: Register > Click absent > Select leave type (holiday) > Add date > Save.

Edit & reset the register for a child

  • Edit the time: Blossomboard > Register > Click the edit pencil > Edit the time > Click the tick to save.

  • Reset the register for a child: Blossomboard > Register > Click the 3 dots next to the child > Click reset.

How to sign a child in and out multiple times during the nursery day?

  • Blossomboard > Register > Click 3 dots > + Add Time In > Another time in icon will appear > Click time in & the tick will be replaced with the time.

Top tip: When signing a child in and out, you have the option to click comment. This allows you to enter any comments (e.g. Grandpa is picking up today). These comments will be seen by parents when you send the diary.

Register staff log

You can track and view which staff member signs a child in and out. To ensure this is accurate, the staff member will need to remember to sign in as themselves.

  • Blossomboard > Register > Click 3 dots > Staff log > All details of activity appear.

Can I see a child’s individual attendance record?

Yes, of course! Please visit their profile and view their specific attendance.

  • Children > Select child > About > Click attendance in the side tab > Filter by date range or click the ‘x’ and view all attendance.

FAQs:

  • What if a child is missing from the register?

Please review the following information, as one of these will likely be the reason:

  • A child's booking pattern (Child > Booking pattern)

  • Start date & Leave date (Child > About > Enrolment details: Edit > ensure start date is in the past & leave date is in the future)

  • Attendance periods (More > Settings > Attendance periods > Term time: Set Term Dates)

  • Can I use the register in the garden?

Blossom is a Web App so it needs to have a Wi-Fi connection. That being said, many nurseries use 4G Tablets or Dongles to ensure they have Wi-Fi wherever they go!
