Authorising devices

  • More > Settings > Security > Authorised devices

Your Blossom platform can only be accessed on devices that have been previously authorised by a manager or deputy manager. This ensures that staff are unable to access children's data from personal devices outside of the nursery.

Devices can be authorised two ways:

  • Self-authorisation

  • Generate a 6-digit PIN remotely

See below for more information about each authorisation method.

Self-Authorisation

If a device is self-authorised, this means a manager or deputy manager has authorised the device themselves by following the steps below on the device:

  • Type Blossom URL into the browser bar > Login page appears > Input credentials > Sign in > Once logged in, a pop up will appear in the top right hand corner > Click Authorise Device > Enter device name > Click Approve this Device.

Once a manager has authorised a device, they can log out, and all members of staff will now be able to log in successfully without asking for a PIN.

Generate a PIN

If a manager or deputy is unavailable to self-authorise the device, a member of the management team can generate a PIN for a staff member who is working remotely, or if there are no managers currently onsite.

  • More > Settings > Security > Authorised devices > + Create > Enter device name > Select staff member who is trying to log in > Generate PIN > A PIN will show on the screen & be sent to the staff member's email address.

Top tip: The PIN must be used to log in within 3 hours. After this, the device will show on your authorised devices list as PIN expired. Click the edit pencil to regenerate a PIN, if needed.

Access logs

The access logs allow you to track when staff members have logged into Blossom. Keep in mind that only managers and deputy managers are able to log in on all devices, whether they have been authorised or not.

To view your access logs, follow the simple steps below.

  • More > Settings > Security > Access logs
